These healthy banana recipes are perfect for using those overripe bananas, from easy pancakes to creamy smoothies to fruity breakfast casseroles!
Bananas are pretty polarizing, with people either loving or hating them. I fall firmly in the Banana Lover Camp, and eat them almost daily – whether it be on their own, in smoothies, or on toast!
We all know that bananas are high in potassium, but why else are bananas healthy? Well they contain fructooligosaccharides (FOS), which is a prebiotic that promotes healthy bacteria in our gut. And one banana contains 12% (3.1 g) of your daily need for fiber, which can help keep you full for longer.
Health benefits aside, bananas are also just a flexible ingredient that are great for cooking! A few of our favorite ways to eat bananas are:
- On its own with almond butter spooned onto it
- In a smoothie to add creaminess and sweetness
- Sliced onto cereal, oatmeal, or toast
- Mashed and used in place of eggs for baked goods
