Your New Foolproof Side Dish

In case you missed the memo, you can do some pretty awesome things with your air fryer. Some of my favorites include fried oyster mushrooms and air fryer tofu.

But you know what else your air fryer is good for? The everyday kinds of things. The quick dinner side dish when you forget to make one. The roasted vegetables that don’t take an hour in the oven.

These air fryer Brussels sprouts fall into the latter category. We’re not reinventing the wheel here. We’re just making ridiculously delicious, crispy Brussels sprouts (in 15 minutes). With only 3 ingredients, they’re easy enough for weeknight dinners yet tasty enough to pair alongside a holiday feast.

Switch Up The Seasonings

I love serving these crispy sprouts with hot honey (recipe at the end of this post), but you can top it with your favorite seasonings and toppings! Here are a few of our go-to options:

  • Garlic: About halfway through cooking, toss the Brussels sprouts with a few minced garlic cloves or some garlic powder.
  • Balsamic: Drizzle balsamic reduction (a thickened balsamic vinegar) over the Brussels sprouts right before serving.
  • Parmesan: Grated Parmesan cheese makes the perfect topping to sprinkle over air-fried Brussels sprouts!
  • No Oil: You can air fry these Brussels sprouts with no or less oil (though I recommend using some oil for flavor). To use less oil, spray the sprouts with oil to coat them evenly. To use no oil, simply omit it from the recipe or use some lemon juice.

Instructions

  • Prep: Remove the tough ends of 1 lb Brussels sprouts and remove any damaged outer leaves. Rinse under cold water and pat dry. If your sprouts are on the large side, cut them in half. Toss in 1 Tbsp olive oil and ¼ tsp each salt and pepper
Stirring Brussels sprouts in a bowl with oil.
  • Air Fry: Arrange Brussels sprouts in a single layer in your air fryer, working in batches if they don't all fit. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 8 to 12 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through cooking to evenly brown them. They are done when lightly browned and crispy on the edges.

You can strain the pepper flakes out if you want the spicy level to be more mild.

Oven: To cook these in the oven, cook them at 425°F (220°C) for about 20 minutes, or until golden and a bit crisp around the edges.

My air fryer Brussels Sprouts came out crispy (even burnt) on the outside but raw-ish on the inside.

What did I do wrong? 😏

      1. Sarah says:

It sounds like they may have just been too big? Try cutting them in half or quarters next time to help the insides cook 😀

    2. Jay Brodbar says:

Thanks Sarah! I neglected to say I cut them in half — so I’ll go for a quarter 🤣

      1. Susan says:

If your air fryer has a temperature control maybe just turn them down a bit. I am just guessing here but sounds likely.

Love Brussels sprouts (maybe because I am from Holland and we ate it all the time). To get a more savory taste, I sprinkle it with Everything but the Bagel Sesame seasoning. Such an easy and tasty side dish to prepare!
