Passion fruit is the definition of sunshine with a sweet yet slightly tangy flavor. So, I’m here to share my obsession (nay…passion) for it with you!

This smoothie will quickly become part of your daily routine. It is packed with antioxidants and can easily be made with frozen passion fruit cubes that are readily available in any grocery store freezer section.

Like many all-fruit smoothies, this one is naturally plenty sweet! Almost as sweet as the person drinking it!

what you’ll need

This smoothie uses four basic ingredients to create a creamy texture, sweet flavor, and refreshing taste!

  • Passion Fruit Puree: Many retailers, like Target and Whole Foods, carry frozen passion fruit cubes that would work great for this smoothie (or you can make your own passion fruit puree). You could also simply use frozen passion fruit that you make yourself.
  • Mango and Pineapple: You can use fresh or frozen mangoes and pineapples, depending on the season and what’s available!
  • Orange Juice: Feel free to use any juice you have on hand, but I love how the O.J. complements the tropical flavors of this smoothie!

Don’t skip this!

Often, ice cream or a dairy ingredient is added to smoothies for a creamy and luxurious texture. But since mangoes naturally have such a fluffy and creamy texture when frozen and added to smoothies, they have the same thickening effect as ice cream (while being a bit healthier)!

Smoothie Variations

  • Add Protein: Try adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder or Greek yogurt for extra protein.
  • Swap Fruit: I love mango in this smoothie, but banana will work too. Frozen banana creates a similar consistency to mango.
  • Coconut Water: You can use coconut water in place of orange juice for a little hydration boost.
  • Make it a Popsicle: You can pour this mixture into a popsicle mold to make passion fruit popsicles.

Notes

Use at least one frozen ingredient to make this smoothie frosty!
Storage: If you want to save this for later, simply keep the smoothie in the blender (if possible) and then store in the fridge. When ready to enjoy, just blend again. It will keep for 2 days in the fridge. It will lose their thick, frosty texture in storage, which can be fixed by blending in a handful of ice before serving!
Are passion fruit seeds ok to eat? Yup, you can eat them!
