In the market for an air fryer but don’t know which air fryer is best? We’re running through the top air fryers on the market to suit every kitchen!

We love air frying around here, relying on it for everything from pizza to kale chips. But if you haven’t tried out air frying before, it may still seem shrouded in mystery. How does air frying work? And which air fryer is best?
Well search no more! We researched dozens of air fryers on the market and landed on these 7 best air fryers of 2022. Reviews are based on both personal experience as well as extensively nerding out on hundreds of buyer reviews.
I personally own (and love) the Philips Airfryer, which I use to create all the air fryer recipes here on the blog. This post contains affiliate links, and purchases via these links may benefit Live Eat Learn.
So what the heck is an air fryer?
An air fryer is an electric kitchen appliance that blows hot air quickly around food to create a crispy exterior. It’s similar to a convection oven, but with much faster, circular air movement that cooks the food more evenly and quickly.
Is air frying healthy?
Not only does deep frying add a ton of extra calories to your food, but the hot oil damages fat-soluble vitamins. Air frying fixes that, requiring very little (or even no) oil to produce a similarly crispy outside, while cooking the food in less time.
Types of air fryers
While there are many air fryers on the market, they generally fall into two categories: basket air fryers and convection oven air fryers. The basket air fryers are the most popular, with a basket similar to a deep fryer to hold the food. Convection oven air fryers are similar to toaster or convection ovens, with racks to place food on and added air frying functionality.

GoWISE Air Fryer
Best color selection – The GoWISE Air Fryer comes in a variety of fun colors and is more affordable than the Philips line, making it a great choice for trying your hand at air frying.
- Price: $
- Cookbook: 50 recipes included

Look: All models come in stainless steel.
Function: The Cuisinart Air Fryer Convection Toaster Oven has seven functions: air fry, convection bake, convection broil, bake, broil, warm, toast. Air frying space in this model is limited to the top rack, so you can’t air fry as much as in most other air fryers.

Okay, you have convinced me I’m getting one. I’ve seen your recipes for air fryers, but just wasn’t sure.

Glad I could make a believer of you! 😀

I’m glad to find your post as I received an instant pot air fryer lid as a gift, and it did not come w/recipes or guides with how to cook anything in it. All i know is to flip whatever food half way thru for even frying. That being said, will your fryer cookbook be spot on for the instant pot, or do I need to adjust the time or temp for it? Thanks in advance.
Sarah says
Temps and times should be the same for most air fryers, though each could vary slightly. As you get to know your air fryer, you’ll learn if it typically needs a little more or less time! 😀

As a gift we were given a Bella Pro Series 2-qt. Touchscreen Air Fryer. Right off we were impressed with it. After lots of yummy baked potoes and French fries the first couple of weeks we started looking at other things to cook in it. We soon realized it was kind of small so I started shopping around. We use our Oster toaster oven on average of once a day, but it is huge and takes up lots of counter space. Looking at combo toaster/air fryers the Cuisinart TOA-60 looked perfect for our family of 2. They sell for $200, but on eBay I found a factory refurbished one for $104. We love it!

Please also consider which air fryers are PTFE and PFOA free. I avoid all “teflon” like non-stick surfaces that can be toxic. Thanks!

It is very strange that you chose the Cuisinart Model TOA-60, an older design and NOT the current TOA-61; the newer digital model with more capabilities and features. There is even an comparison article on the web of the two of which convinced my extremely thrifty wife to purchase the TOA-61 as the more prudent value for a large Air Fryer.
Sarah Bond says
Thanks for letting us know, James!

I’ve got and love the Oyama/TIYOORTA, or Rosewill, or Big Boss, or Nutrichef Turbo oven airfryer (amazon). It’s a big glass bowl with a heating element in the top. I can fit a 14 lb turkey in it if I nest the breast into the dark meat cradle, but I just cook them separately.
EASY clean-up!
I have a hard time with a crispy pizza crust, unless it’s a tiny pizza. I even bought a stone, but it takes too long to heat up.
JJudi Lynn says
I have a Breville BOV845 toaster oven, looks like the one you suggest on your list, the slightly older model that doesn’t have the air fryer feature.
I see it has a “convection” button, but there are no instructions on how to use it. Can my model actually be used as an air fryer – and if so, how?
I’d appreciate any info you can give me, and perhaps pass that along to any others with the same unit I have.
Thanks.
Sarah Bond says
Convection may be a bit different from air frying, because it may not have the same air movement that gives it that crispiness!
