Step Aside, French Fries

Air fryer carrot fries are just like regular French fries but with a healthy glow-up (and you know I’m always here for a good snack hack!). Instead of the deep fryer, we’ll use some hot air magic to “fry” our crispy carrot sticks, meaning way less oil but all the crunch.

In just 20 minutes, you’ll have a nutritious snack or side dish that’s super easy to whip up. Plus, this recipe is completely customizable! You can switch up the seasonings or dip the carrots in your go-to sauce de jour. Whatever the case, these fries are about to become your new favorite snack. Let’s cook!

You Don’t Need Much

Can you believe these easy air fryer carrot fries have just four ingredients? Feel free to play around with the seasonings to spice things up. (Jump to the recipe card for the full recipe!)

  • Carrots: Regular ol’ carrots always do the trick! For a colorful twist, you can also try purple, yellow, and white carrots.
  • Seasonings: Use a classic garlic powder, smoked paprika, and sea salt combo, or choose your favorites! Think cracked black pepper, dried parsley, cumin, coriander, chili powder, or even Parmesan cheese.
  • Oil: My go-to is olive oil for air fryer carrot fries, but any vegetable oil will work here. Try sunflower, canola, or avocado oil!

Flavor It Up!

I kept the seasonings simple here, but you could make these carrot fries Mexican-style, curried, or even ranch-flavored! Just sprinkle any of these popcorn seasonings on before air frying.

Air Fryer Tip

With air fryers, it’s important to cook food in a single layer without overcrowding the basket. This helps the air circulate, resulting in crispy and delicious carrot fries. If you’re making a lot of fries, work in batches for maximum crispiness. (You can learn more about how to use an air fryer here!)

These Play Well With…

Once you try these crispy air fryer carrot fries, you’ll want to start serving them with everything! My favorite pairing is a big, juicy burger.

  • Portobello Mushroom Burgers: Keep the veggie train going with meaty, grillable mushroom patties!
  • Halloumi Burgers: With crispy grilled halloumi cheese and juicy tomato slices, this one has everything you could ever want.
  • Seitan Burgers: Balance those veggies with a protein-packed seitan burger (perfect for grilling!).

Instructions

  • Preheat: Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (176°C) for 3-5 minutes. It’s not a necessity, but I find it helps evenly air fry the carrots.
  • Cut: I’m leaving them unpeeled because it’s easier (and more nutritious). If you opt for this, just give them a good wash and scrub! Cut the carrots into fry shapes, about ½-inch thick.

  • Season: Transfer the carrot fries to a mixing bowl. Toss them with a spoonful of olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, and sea salt. If you prefer other seasonings, add those too!

  • Cook: Air fry the carrot fries in a single layer for about 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking. Check them with a fork to make sure they are done. If not, air fry them for another couple of minutes.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. I don’t recommend freezing air-fried carrots, as their texture will change too much once thawed.
