Happy September friends! I’m not going to lie, I’m not the type to *love* fall. Keep your fuzzy socks and pumpkin spice, I want summer to stay.
But one redeeming quality to fall are all the reasons to get together for feasts. And this month I worked out some tasty new recipes to share for those feasts (to include this Beet Wellington, inspired by my trip to Scotland in June!). Rhubarb has been pretty excited about these recent recipes too.
Besides developing and shooting recipes all the way up until Thanksgiving (🤯), some favorite moments in August included…
Dog sitting this sweet heeler. She was found running around a busy street without a collar or microchip, so my friend took her in and worked out her reactivity issues. She’s now the sweetest girl and just found her furever home (but not before I got to watch her for the week, teaching her to paddle board and using her as a model in some upcoming Bone Appétreat recipes!)
We also had out 1st Annual Family Reunion! Though we’re a small family, we’re spread all over the country and had never formally got together as a family reunion.
I instituted the 1st Annual Family Wine Walk, a sunset walk in which everyone brings their favorite beverage to-go.
Rhubarb, who loves food as much as I do, was told by the vet that she could stand to lose a little weight. She’s clearly thrilled about the dog treadmill I found for her on Facebook Marketplace.
And there was book club, where we discussed all the books we read (or…were supposed to read) this summer.
And in the midst of all that I think I broke my brain because I had the intense urge to clean out every square inch of my house, which included reorganizing my bathroom cupboards, cleaning the basement, furnishing our spare bedroom, and taking a carload of clothes to Goodwill.
The last week of August was spent sailing around Croatia and its neighbors (pictures and stories here). I cannot wait to start cooking the recipes inspired from the trip! But first…a nap.
