Strawberries are one of the lowest-calorie fruits by weight (9 cal/oz) with an awesome vitamin and mineral profile. When buying strawberries, choose shiny, firm strawberries with a bright red color. Caps should be fresh, green, and intact. Avoid shrivelled, mushy, or leaky berries.
Store strawberries in the fridge, and do not wash until ready to eat, ideally within a few days. Of course, you can always freeze strawberries (or buy them frozen) to support your favorite Strawberry Smoothie recipe.
