Whether you’re sitting at home eating your stockpile of pasta or are feeling a bit ill, we could all use a healthy boost. These rainbow smoothie shots are loaded with nutrients and perfect for drinking alongside breakfast to get you going in the morning.

Different from a green smoothie, smoothie shots are more concentrated and thus more flavorful. So, break out your shot glasses and kickstart your day with these tasty drinks!

Pick your flavor

These tasty immunity boosters come in four flavors you’ll love. So pick your color and get blending!

Red: This one consists of fresh strawberries, beets, lemon juice, and honey. Agave can be used in place of honey.

The red color of beets comes from betalains – a compound that may reduce inflammation and oxidative stress.

Orange: Grab a carrot, ginger, honey, and turmeric for this version. If you have any leftover cantaloupe, you can add that in, too!

Turmeric, which contains curcuminoids, is a staple in Ayurvedic medicine and may have many inflammation-related benefits.

Yellow: For this sunny smoothie shot, you’ll need a banana, fresh ginger, lemon juice, and a bit of turmeric. Pineapple will work in place of banana!

A vibrant display featuring banana, sliced ginger, turmeric powder on a spoon, and lemon slices on a white surface evokes the essence of refreshing smoothie shots.
Ginger contains antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-nausea properties.

Green: Spinach brings a bright green color to this drink. Paired with ginger, lemon juice, and honey, it’s a sip of playing in lush grass on a sunny day. You can also add kiwi for extra antioxidants.

Spinach is a powerhouse leafy green. It’s an excellent source of Vitamins A, C, and K, as well as iron and calcium.

Let’s make these smoothie shots

Making these smoothie shots is super easy. You’ll just need a blender (my favorite is Vitamix)!

  1. Pick your flavor: Choose your desired flavor, and then add all the ingredients to a blender.
  2. Blend smooth: Blend until it’s as smooth as possible, adding a splash of water if needed to get things moving.
  3. Optional: You can also strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the fibers, making these shots more like juice than a smoothie. (I like to leave them as is – fiber is healthy!).

Instructions

  • Blend: Choose which smoothie shot you want to make, then add its ingredients to a blender, along with 1 or 2 tablespoons of water. Blend until smooth, adding a touch more water as needed to get things moving.
  • Strain (Optional): If making the red or yellow smoothie, serve fresh from the blender. If making the orange or green smoothie, you may want to strain it through a fine mesh sieve. Pour juice into a shot glass and serve.

Notes

Make it in bulk by simply making four times the recipe.
Store for up to 3 days tightly sealed in the refrigerator. The fibers tend to seperate and form a single layer as the juice is stored. Simply give it a stir before enjoying again.
