This healthy Key Lime Pie Smoothie recipe is creamy, tangy, and a delicious way to start your day (plus it’s a dead ringer for the classic dessert!)

At this point in my healthy smoothie obsession, any smoothie that doesn’t involve a vegetable feels like a treat (although green smoothies can be treats too, of course).
And if it’s a treat you’re looking for, this Key Lime Pie Smoothie is it! It has protein-packed Greek yogurt, sweet banana, fresh lime juice, and honey.
When that all comes together with a quick blitz in the blender, the result is a creamy and sweet lime smoothie that’s a dead ringer for Key Lime Pie!

“This smoothie is one of my new favorites – so tart and refreshing for these hot summer days!! I didn’t use vanilla extract, but I added a lot of spinach and ice to make it thick and the color was so vibrant! It looked as yummy as it tasted! Thanks for this amazing recipe 😍” —Shaylee
Ingredients for this Key Lime Pie Smoothie
- Banana: Freeze your banana slices ahead of time to make this lime smoothie cold and frosty.
- Yogurt: Plain Greek yogurt makes this smoothie rich and creamy. You could also throw in a dollop of cream cheese for a more decadent, cheesecake-y smoothie.
- Lime: You can use key lime juice or regular lime juice, but aim for fresh juice where possible.
- Sweetener: I love honey in this smoothie, but you could also use sugar, agave, or maple syrup.
- Vanilla: Finish it off with a dash of vanilla extract to bring that pie feeling!
Variations on this Key Lime Pie Smoothie
More Creamy: For an even creamier smoothie, replace 2 tablespoons of the yogurt with cream cheese.
Add Color: To give this key lime pie inspired smoothie more green color, add a few leaves of fresh spinach. The spinach flavor is undetectable and it makes this smoothie even more fun!
Make It Lemon: This recipe also works great with fresh lemon juice and zest!
Make Popsicles: In the mood for popsicles? Add a touch more honey then freeze the mixture into homemade popsicles!
Add Protein: Give it a boost of protein by adding cottage cheese.

They’d be perfect for brunch! I’m usually all about green smoothies but those tend to scare off people, especially in a brunch setting. These are healthy but sweet and I hope you love them! 🙂

This looks so yummy! I make a smoothie similar to this every morning but with mango instead of lime.
Sarah says
Oh yum I bet that’d be great! Unfortunately I just do not have the patience to peel and cut a mango in the mornings, but perhaps I’ll give it a go some afternoon 🙂

I just made this and it is really good. Usually a banana in a smoothy overpowers everything else but the lime juice was perfect and lime is definitely the aftertaste. Even though it has yogurt in it, it feels very light. It’s a winner.
Sarah says
So happy you liked it, Matt! The lime adds so much more flavor than you would expect, doesn’t it? 😀
Dindrane says
Truly, thank you so much. I have ulcerative colitis AND a gastric sleeve AND I’m vegetarian, so finding healthy, but low fiber, high protein, but a complete protein AND low fiber (I miss quinoa so much)… well, it’s a pain. But smoothies make it easy and affordable! I can always add unflavored or whatever flavor protein powder, and it’s supposed to be thick!
You are so creative; I’ll never be bored or feel sorry for myself. :p
Sarah says
Aw I’m happy you found this smoothie then!! Enjoy! 😀

The Vegan version of this smoothie tastes absolutely dreadful. After a few bites I threw it away. Such a waste of money.
Sarah says
Sorry to hear it, Judy! Dairy-free yogurts can be hit or miss, so be sure to find a brand you like for next time you try this.
Beth says
Judy, I just made this, so delicious! I am wondering if the vegan yogurt you used was already sweetened or had a flavour? If so the addition of banana and another sweetener would make it sickly sweet! Also if agave was used to replace honey, would need less of it, but I’m sure you already know that.
Candice says
Very good smoothie! Just the right amount of sweet and tangy..good substitute when you don’t have any key lime pie in the house 🙂 Thanks.
