There’s this phenomenon where certain people’s moods are more affected by weather than others. This used to be me. And if that’s you, then you need this sunshine in a cup (because then what difference does the weather make?).

This sunny orange smoothie is creamy, dreamy, and packed with protein + Vitamin C. It makes rainy days feel sunny and winter days feel like summer.

You don’t need much

You’ll just need a handful of ingredients to create this dreamy orange smoothie. This is just an overview – jump to the recipe card here!

  • Oranges: We’ll use 2 oranges, but you could also use 4 mandarin oranges (or whatever type of orange you have on hand)! I like to grate a bit of the orange zest off in addition to the orange juice to add that to the smoothie as well – it amplifies the orange flavor even more.
  • Banana: Use frozen banana to make this creamsicle smoothie frosty and sweet.
  • Greek Yogurt: Adds a punch of protein while making this smoothie nice and creamy.
  • Vanilla: Just a dash of vanilla extract takes this dreamy smoothie to the next level.
Ingredients needed for an orange creamsicle smoothie.

smoothies are easy to make

  1. Prepare the bananas by peeling and freezing them.
  2. Blend all ingredients until totally smooth and creamy.

smoothie Tip

For best results, freeze the banana before blending. This will make the smoothie icy cold and give it a thicker texture! You could also use frozen oranges for an even frostier, creamy texture!

Smoothie Variations

If you love this smoothie, you have to try some of these variations to make new orange smoothie recipes.

  • Green Smoothie: Add a handful of spinach to this smoothie for color and nutrients.
  • Make It Dairy-Free: Swap the Greek yogurt for canned coconut milk to keep this smoothie vegan.
  • Make It Sweeter: If you find this drink isn’t sweet enough, like the original Orange Julius version, you can add honey or maple syrup.
  • Make It Tropical: Like we do in our quick mango smoothie, try adding frozen mango for a burst of sunshine!

Creamy, healthy, delicious! This sounds so great. I’d definitely make it with a frozen banana, I think smoothies always turn out better that way 🙂

What is a good substitute for yogurt in a smoothie my family won’t eat or drink anything with yogurt ,cottage cheese or anything similar

My cardiologist’s staff gave me a NutriBullet blender as a Christmas present, since I recently had aortic valve replacement surgery and in preparation for that, I had to have what remaining teeth pulled (so I have none, now and can’t chew my food).
I’ve never made a smoothie of any kind, but some of your recipes look good, and if/when I can get to the store for the ingredients (I don’t have anything at home right now), I might try them.
