I’m excited to share the top 24 new recipes from 2024 on Live Eat Learn! From our viral Marry Me series to recipes that leaned into my sensory science background, I’ve created some of my favorite recipes of all time this year!
What a year! This January will mark 10 years of running Live Eat Learn, and I think it may have been the best year yet.
The world of food blogging has changed so much since I started 10 years ago, and this was one of the most tumultuous years for the food blog industry. Between major Google algorithm updates and advances in AI, the beginning of the year was honestly pretty scary. For the first time, we were losing traffic, and I didn’t know how to continue to find an audience online.
So I switched up how I was doing things. I began leaning heavily into the recipes I was just so excited to make, rather than the recipes I thought that I “should” be making.
And I started creating videos showing how I make the recipes in my kitchen. Less polished, more real life. And I started putting myself in the videos, which honestly is still terrifying. (And with that, I hired a team member to respond to social media comments because my mental health just could not, lol. It’s still me in the DM’s though!)
Part of creating recipes that excited me meant I also got to lean a bit more into my sensory science background. I created a bunch of fun copycat recipes using principles of sensory science to deconstruct the ingredient labels on store-bought favorites. Boursin Cheese and Liquid Mozzarella were my favorites!
Longtime readers will know that we used to have a featured ingredient every week, and every recipe coming out that week would be centered around the ingredient. But after 10 years, I was starting to feel a bit confined to this way of content creation.
Instead, now I tend to create themed series, like our incredibly popular Marry Me series, which came out around Valentine’s Day, or the Smashed Veggie series, which had over 50 million views (!!!).
I also initiated the community favorite to Chickpea Friday, where I basically just share a new chickpea recipe every Friday. It’s been fun to stretch the boundaries of what a can of chickpeas can do!
And perhaps the most exciting thing to come from the year, after 10 years of online recipe writing, was my physical cookbook called Eat! This was a self-published project where I wrote and designed the cookbook entirely independently, then worked directly with a printer to bring it to life. We’ve sold over a thousand copies from our little garage in Denver, and I’m honestly just so proud of this book.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m just so excited to continue connecting with our growing community and to help give you exactly what you need to make your plant-based journey a bit tastier and easier! Thank you so much for being here.
Happy eating! -Sarah
