This healthy spinach artichoke dip uses Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise or sour cream, making for a healthier stovetop or oven version of this classic dip (we included instructions for both methods)! With dozens of 5-star reviews, it’s a winning dip recipe you’ll love.

This is always a popular favorite at potlucks and tailgates, but it’s usually loaded with mayonnaise and sour cream.
So, in the name of health (and so that we can guzzle down even more of this stuff without guilt), today, we’re making a healthy spinach artichoke dip using Greek yogurt!

Key Ingredients
- Greek Yogurt: Protein-rich Greek yogurt is the base of this healthy dip! You can learn to make your own Greek yogurt here or use plain store-bought yogurt.
- Cheeses: It’s not a cheesy artichoke dip without the cheese! We’ll use grated parmesan and mozzarella for maximum flavor and melty cheese goodness.
- Frozen Spinach: Thaw, then squeeze as much moisture from the spinach as possible before adding it to the mix.
- Canned Artichoke Hearts: Drain and cut the artichoke hearts into rough pieces. I recommend ones that are packed in just water.

It’s so easy to make
I love making spinach artichoke dip on the stove to save energy. It’s great straight from the stove, but I’ll sometimes pop it in the oven just to melt the cheese on top (jump to the recipe card for full printable instructions).
- Thaw the spinach and chop the artichoke hearts.
- Stir everything together on the stove.
- Optionally broil for a melty cheesy topping!

Serves A Crowd
This dip is perfect for serving a crowd! You can make it in advance then just heat it up right before serving. There are never leftovers!

Serve It With…
Spinach artichoke dip is great with crackers, tortilla chips, and bread (like chunks of crusty bread or toasted baguettes). You can also serve it with crunchy fresh vegetables, like bell peppers, baby carrots, and broccoli.

Lightened Up Spinach Artichoke Dip (With Greek Yogurt)
Ingredients
- 1 10-oz package frozen spinach, 285 g
- 1 14-oz can artichoke hearts, 400 g
- 1 8-oz package cream cheese, can sub low-fat, 225 g
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 220 g
- ½ cup grated parmesan, 50 g
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella, 50 g
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional for spice: 1 4-oz jar green chilies, drained
- Optional for broiling: ½ cup mozzarella
Instructions
- Prep: Thaw 1 10-oz package frozen spinach (in the microwave for 30 seconds), then press out as much moisture as possible. Drain and roughly chop 1 14-oz can artichoke hearts.
- Heat: Add spinach, artichoke, 1 8-oz package cream cheese, 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, ½ cup grated parmesan, ½ cup shredded mozzarella, and 3 cloves garlic to a large pot. For a spicier dip, optionally add drained green chiles. Taste and add salt and pepper, as needed to suit your taste. Heat over medium until cheese has melted, stirring often. Serve warm!
- Broil (optional): For a melty presentation, you can transfer the dip to a small casserole dish and top with ½ cup mozzarella cheese. Set your oven to "broil" and cook until cheese has melted, about 2 to 3 minutes (watch closely while oven is on broil, it will burn quickly).
- Serve: Warm with crackers, bread, chips, or fresh veggies!

Hello! Can you prepare spinach artichoke dip made with yogurt (stovetop version) but serve cold?
Yep, that should work just fine!
Sound great! Can’t wait to make it for a family bbq.
Anything you could sub for the cheeses? My granddaughter isn’t supposed to eat dairy though yogurt seems okay.
You could use a vegan cheese here! 🙂
Hello wgat is the serving size for this spinach dip?. I want to try this
The recipe makes 6 servings (about 1/2 cup per serving).
This pasta was so easy and makes a huge amount. I froze individual portions for next week’s lunches. It’s rich but tastes healthy with all the spinach and artichokes. My carnivore friend absolutely loved it.
I’m so glad to hear you loved it, Lorette! 😀
Love this!!! I have waited for this recipe and now instead of buying it at Costco where it says it’s made with yogurt too but now I can control ALL ingredients Thank You 😉
