Dig into a bowl of sweet and tangy Cranberry Orange Oatmeal for the perfect morning meal! This tasty dish is easy to make and will totally fuel your morning.

Oatmeal makes a great breakfast at any time of the year, but during the colder months it just feels extra cozy. In the fall, that’s especially the case when you make it with delicious fall flavors like cranberry or citrus!
Today, we’re combining both of those flavors for a delicious sweet and tangy oatmeal recipe that hits the spot and fuels your body for the day ahead.
We’ll use just five ingredients to get the perfect texture, consistency, and flavor!
Ingredients in cranberry orange oatmeal
We will make this cranberry orange oatmeal recipe using water and oats (of course), cranberry sauce, and sliced almonds. We’ll achieve the orange flavor with the addition of orange juice, and you can add a couple of orange slices as a garnish/flavor enhancer if you want!
- Orange Juice: First up, start with 1 ½ cups of orange juice.
- Water: Add an equal amount of water (1 ½ cups). The combination of the orange juice and water will help to create light, fluffy oats.
- Oats: For the oats themselves, use ½ cup of steel cut (here’s the difference between steel cut and rolled oats!).
- Cranberry Sauce: Add flavor with 2 to 4 tablespoons of cranberry sauce. Here’s a great homemade cranberry sauce recipe.
- Sliced Almonds: Last but not least, top the oats with 1 tablespoons of sliced almonds for extra flavor and crunch!
How to make cranberry and orange oatmeal
If you’ve ever made oats on the stove, this recipe is no different! Just add everything to a pot, let it simmer, and then add the toppings. The whole process will take about 30 minutes.
- Cook the oats: First, combine the orange juice, water, and oats in a medium pot. Bring to a simmer, uncovered, and cook for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the oats are tender and the water is absorbed.
- Serve: Spoon into serving bowls and top with cranberry sauce and sliced almonds.
Can I use rolled oats?
When making oatmeal, I definitely recommend steel cut oats. This is due to the texture! Steel cut oats have a thicker, chewier texture that lends themselves well to the final consistency of cooked oatmeal.
Technically rolled or instant oats would work, but you’ll likely wind up with a mushier result. Here’s everything you need to know about oats.
