By this time of year, Iโ€™m officially in cozy dinner mode. I still want meals that taste good and feel nourishing, but my tolerance for long ingredient lists and complicated prep isโ€ฆlow.

Enter my latest delivery from Hungryroot.

This box leaned comforting (dumplings, pizza, paneer), but still kept things fresh and balanced with veggies, plant-based protein, and meals that came together fast. As someone who tests recipes for a living, Iโ€™m always paying attention to two things: does this actually save time and would I make this again on a normal weeknight?

For this delivery, the answer was a very solid yes.

Disclosure

Hungryroot compensated me for this review, but (as always) all opinions are my own. Iโ€™ve tested multiple boxes over the past few months, cooked through tons of their recipes, and used the groceries in my own everyday cooking.

Price Breakdown: What This Box Actually Cost

Letโ€™s start with the numbers, because thatโ€™s always the first question.

Subtotal: $125.86
Add-ons: $8.95
Total: $134.81
Recipes included: 7
Recipes we cooked: 5
Servings: All recipes are 2 servings โ†’ 14 total servings available

That works out to roughly:

  • โ‰ˆ $19.25 per 2-serving meal
  • โ‰ˆ $9.60 per serving

We skipped a couple recipes and used the groceries in other meals throughout the week (which I love), so the value stretches even further if youโ€™re flexible.

A plate with roasted fingerling potatoes, grilled zucchini, and saucy chicken is held in front of several other vegetable-based dishes and a Hungryroot meal delivery box.

Fried Dumpling + Sweet Chili Slaw Veggie Bowl

10 minutes โ€ข 410 calories โ€ข 2 servings

This might have been our favorite of the whole boxโ€”and we never eat dumplings at home.

The gyoza get crispy on the bottom, the edamame adds protein, and the sweet chili slaw brings freshness and crunch. Itโ€™s such a smart balance of comforting and light, and it felt like something weโ€™d order outโ€ฆexcept it took 10 minutes in our own kitchen.

Tandoori Paneer with Potato + Zucchini

20 minutes โ€ข 730 calories โ€ข 2 servings

Paneer is one of those ingredients I always forget to cook with, and every time I do, I wonder why.

This was such a satisfying meal. The paneer sears beautifully, the tandoori sauce is bold without being overwhelming, and the fingerling potatoes had that perfect snap when you bite into them. The zucchini keeps everything balanced and fresh.

Curry Falafel Naan Wrap

8 minutes โ€ข 700 calories โ€ข 2 servings

This one surprised us in the best way.

I didnโ€™t expect the coconut curry sauce to work so well with the falafel, but it absolutely did. Creamy, spiced, and just rich enough to feel indulgent without being heavy. The naan crisps up nicely, and the veggie mix adds freshness.

Teriyaki Tofu + Green Beans Rice Bowl

10 minutes โ€ข 620 calories โ€ข 2 servings

This was one of the easiest meals in the box. Truly a 10-minute dinner.

The tofu comes pre-sauced and browns quickly, the rice is fluffy, and even though Iโ€™m not usually a huge green bean person, I still ate most of them here. Thatโ€™s saying something.

Broccoli Cheddar Pizza

20 minutes โ€ข 610 calories โ€ข 2 servings

This one was so good.

The base of the pizza is a creamy cashew parmesan sauce that honestly deserved a standing ovation. Itโ€™s rich, savory, and melts beautifully with the cheddar. I had leftovers and was very tempted to eat it as a dip with chips.

What We Didnโ€™t Make (and Why Thatโ€™s Fine)

  • Mushroom + Pepper Jack Quesadillas with Fries
  • Sweet Chili Lime Mushrooms with Bok Choy

And thatโ€™s actually part of what I like most about Hungryroot: youโ€™re not locked into cooking everything exactly as written. We used the groceries across other meals during the week without feeling like we wasted anything.

What I Loved About This Box

โœ” A great mix of comfort food + veggies
โœ” Multiple true sub-10-minute meals
โœ” Plant-based proteins that donโ€™t feel repetitive
โœ” Easy to customize or remix throughout the week

A variety of prepared meals including flatbread, tofu with rice and green beans, salad, potatoes, and a taco plate are arranged on a wooden surface next to a Hungryroot box.

Final Thoughts

This was a cozy, fun, and genuinely easy week of vegetarian dinners.

Would I order this lineup again? Absolutely. Especially the dumplings. And the cashew parm. And the paneer.
