Made with just four simple ingredients, these frozen chocolate raspberries are a delicious way to enjoy those addictingly good DIY Tru Fru treats at home! No special equipment is needed to make them, and the chocolate raspberry bites only take 10 minutes to put together.

If you’re as obsessed with Tru Fru frozen chocolate raspberries as I am, then you know just how expensive that obsession can be. They make such a great healthy snack or dessert for when you’re craving something sweet; how can anyone resist?!
These little chocolate bites consist of frozen fruit layered with white and dark chocolate. With such simple ingredients, I knew I could make them at home. I came up with a recipe for frozen chocolate-covered raspberries that’s easier to make than driving to Target!
Why you’ll love it
- Minimal ingredients make this recipe a great choice for when your pantry or fridge is running low.
- Customizable because while I like these with raspberries, you could use strawberries, blueberries, or any other type of berry you like.
- A healthy snack for when you just need something for your sweet tooth!

You only need 4 ingredients
This list of ingredients couldn’t be simpler. Jump down to the recipe card for exact measurements, this is just an overview!
- Raspberries: The original Tru Fru uses raspberries, and for good reason. Their slight tang is the perfect complement to creamy chocolate, and they are bite-sized! You could use fresh or frozen whole raspberries.
- White Chocolate: White chocolate adds most of the sweetness to contrast with dark chocolate. You could use baking chips, white chocolate chips, or chunks.
- Dark Chocolate: Dark chocolate is much less sweet than milk chocolate, so pairing it with white chocolate was a no-brainer. Chocolate chips, baking chips, or chunks could all work for dark chocolate.
- Coconut Oil: This is the secret ingredient! When melted, mixed with chocolate, and frozen, it creates an irresistible crunch. For my fellow 90s kids, this is very similar to Hershey’s magic shell!

Melt Chocolate, The Right Way
Just use the microwave! But you can also use the stove to melt the chocolate.

making frozen chocolate-covered raspberries is easy
To make this Tru Fru copycat, you only need a tray to freeze the berries and a bowl to melt the chocolate. Jump the recipe card for the full printable instructions.
- Freeze the berries on a tray so they are easier to handle (this also helps the chocolate to firm up quickly once dipped).
- Melt the white chocolate with the coconut oil and dip the raspberries into it.
- Melt the dark chocolate with the rest of the coconut oil and dip the white chocolate raspberries into it.
- Freeze them on the tray until hardened, and then enjoy!

Variations
Like I keep saying, this recipe can be customized in so many different ways! Here are just a few unique ways to enjoy frozen chocolate fruit.
- Use peanut butter and banana to make an Elvix frozen treat. Add 1 tsp of peanut butter to the white chocolate and swap the raspberries for banana slices. You can also use milk chocolate in place of dark.
- Add some spice to this snack by mixing in 1/4 tsp of cayenne pepper to the dark chocolate and swap the raspberries for frozen mangoes.
- Add some spring flare by mixing in the zest from half a lemon to the white chocolate, swap the raspberries for strawberry chunks, and omit the dark chocolate.
- Add protein by pipping Greek yogurt into the center of the raspberries before dipping.
are frozen raspberries healthy?
Yes, most frozen raspberries are frozen when they are nice and ripe so they retain nearly all their nutritional value. Now, with the white and dark chocolate, they are not quite as healthy, but they are still better than most desserts!

Frozen Chocolate Raspberries (Tru Fru Copycat!)
Ingredients
- 2 cups raspberries, fresh or frozen
- 1 cup white chocolate chips, or chunks
- 2 tsp coconut oil, divided
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips, or chunks
Instructions
- Freeze Berries: Freeze berries in a single layer. This makes dipping easier and will help the chocolate firm up more quickly!
- White Chocolate: Add white chocolate and 1 tsp of the coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20 second bursts, stirring between rounds, until most of the chocolate is melted. Stir to melt the remaining chunks. Dip each raspberry into the white chocolate using a fork, transferring each to a parchment-lined plate when finished.
- Dark Chocolate: Add dark chocolate and the remaining 1 tsp of the coconut oil to a microwave-safe bowl. Repeat step 2, dipping the berries in the dark chocolate this time.
- Freeze: Transfer finished berries to the freezer until ready to enjoy!
Notes
Yes, if you can find whole frozen raspberries, this is a great option and a great way to save a little time while making the recipe. Can this recipe be made vegan?
Yes, to make it vegan, you will need to use vegan white chocolate and dark chocolate (which is naturally vegan).

What kind of chocolate did you use?
Dark chocolate and white chocolate! 🙂
These are fantastic though mine didn’t look at good as yours.
I am allergic to coconut. Can you recommend a replacement for the coconut oil? What do you think the results would be without the oil?
You cna just omit the coconut oil! It adds a little shine to the chocolate, but isn’t necessary for these to be tasty 🙂
I love this recipe, it was delicious, and I can’t wait for others to try it its totally 5 stars, and how long do u freeze it for i dont want to over freeze it? tysm
I typically keep these in the freezer for up to three months as long as they’re stored properly in a freezer safe container without a lot of exposure to air 🙂 Enjoy!
