Fresh pears are obviously preferred than canned pears to avoid the added sugars. Among its varieties, the most popular of these being Bartlett, Anjou, Bosc, Asian, Concorde and Seckel.
When buying, choose firm pears, then check the neck for ripeness daily by applying gentle pressure to the stem end of the pear with your thumb. When it yields to pressure, it’s ready to eat. Store unripened pears in a paper bag at room temperature, and refrigerate ripe pears.
