In March 2021, a woman beams with joy indoors, proudly holding her COVID-19 vaccination card next to her trusty golden retriever. Its moments like these that Lets Gab showcases, celebrating lifes little victories together.

It’s the end of the month so you know what that means…let’s gab! Starting with the happiest moment of the month (year? decade??)…I GOT VACCINATED!

Getting the vaccine feels like a milestone in what has been a life changing year. I had minimal side effects with the Moderna shot, just a sore arm and a slight fever for a day.

For anyone in Texas, I received the vaccine by volunteering for an afternoon at the New Braunfels mass vaccination clinic. They are vaccinating thousands of people everyday and need volunteers. (While not guaranteed, every volunteer so far has been offered the vaccine at the end of their shift.)

In March 2021, the mountain landscape boasts snow patches on grassy slopes and dense forested areas beneath a cloudy sky.

On the Homefront

Sister and I have finally started hitting our rhythm, which includes regular Goodwill treasure hunts, Tuesday comedy nights with our Bumble BFF gals, and impromptu ski days. I love it.

But before I dive into what we’ve been up to on the homefront, I want to address the shooting that happened at a grocery store in Boulder last week. I found out about the news from my sister, who works at the ER closest to where the shooting took place. The apprehension as they cleared out the ER in anticipation for victims, and then the realization that no one made it to the hospital, I just don’t have words.

In March 2021, a seed tray with soil-filled compartments sits beside an empty orange pot and two covered plates with seeds on a dark surface. Lets gab about gardening and the promise of new growth.

On a lighter note…BABIES! Specifically, tomato babies. After having crazy success growing tomato plants from a few cherry tomatoes last year, I thought I’d do it again. But with you this time! Join our Let’s Grow Tomatoes series and workout those green thumbs!

In March 2021, seedlings tagged as Yellow are sprouting in an egg carton filled with soil, partially covered with plastic wrap. Lets gab about the wonders of urban gardening!.

And it wouldn’t be a recap of life on the homefront if I didn’t tell you about all the absoute treasures I found secondhand this month!

After months of waiting for our brand new couch from Macy’s, only to have the delivery delayed and delayed, I gave up and went hunting for something secondhand. Within hours I found this beauty on Facebook Marketplace, and now our house is complete!

The living room, reminiscent of a lively Lets Gab session from March 2021, features scattered cushions, chairs, and various items on a wooden floor. Large windows and shelves add to the charm, even as the room appears in delightful disarray.

I’m proud to say that 90% of what you see in this photo is secondhand. *Cue Macklemore*.

Step into this modern living room, where a gray sectional sofa invites conversation. Woven wall decor adds texture, and large windows flood the space with light. A rug graces the wooden floor, blending seamlessly into the kitchen area for a design thats very Lets Gab.
Modern living room with a gray sofa, pink throw, TV, wall decor, and a desk with a computer from March 2021. Sunlight streams through large windows. The bedroom is visible through the open door on this beautiful day perfect for a gab session. Dark wood flooring completes the look.

I also found this beauty, which sister zhushed up with gold paint accents. In love!

In March 2021, a woman carefully hangs a large framed artwork depicting a stylized figure on her wall after transporting it in her cars trunk. The piece, a vibrant creation by the artist Gab, finds its perfect spot, adding flair to her living space.

Somewhere Down in Texas

I had the last birthday of my twenties this month, and headed on down to San Antonio to celebrate with some of my favorite (vaccinated) people. There was fruit pizza and far too many mimosas and I loved every second.

In March 2021, enjoy a skyline view of San Antonio with a prominent tall building proudly displaying a flag on top, surrounded by various other structures under a clear sky. Lets Gab about how each element adds to the citys charm.
Two people grinning near a fruit tart adorned with berries and birthday candles, sharing a joyful moment in a cozy kitchen setting, reminiscent of March 2021 memories. Lets Gab about flavors that light up life!.

I have this thing where I give cities a color. It’s not intentional, you just…know the color of a city, right? Like Lisbon is yellow, Amsterdam is red, London is blue. And San Antonio? It’s rainbow.

Some of my favorite places in this rainbow city include Hops and Hounds, where you can play with all the pups while drinking a tropical margarita flight…

…and La Fogata, where you can get lost in their colorful labyrinth of terrace nooks (we’ve made it a ritual to stop here for pre-airport margaritas)…

…and the Tacos el Regio food truck on North Saint Mary’s Street, which serves up heavenly street corn in a cup (at all hours)…

…and the Friendly Spot, my favorite place in Texas!

I also headed even further south down to Corpus Christi with one of my favorite people, where we camped on the beach, ate tacos for every meal, and fished. Well, with my impatience when it comes to fishing and inability to throw a cast net, I mostly just oystered (and as a note: I’m actually allergic to fish and shellfish, but love serving it up to my fish-loving friends).

Gotta love Corpus Christi, where you get chips and salsa with your coffee.

Ski ya later

And as if the month already wasn’t great, I skied my ass off! We hit up Beaver Creek, Vail, and Breckenridge, skiing through the trees and powder and having a grand ole time. But not before dad gave us our first real Colorado lesson: how to put on snow chains.

And that’s the gab! I hope you have a beautiful start to spring and am so happy to have you here!
