Bebe Takes Flight
In the words of the great Taylor Swift, August slipped away like a bottle of wine. But what a delicious bottle it was!
The month began with a big milestone in little Rhubarb’s life…first flight! I realized this was probably the only time Rhubs would be small enough to travel with me, so I jumped at the chance and flew her down to San Antonio to meet some of my favorite people!
She got to meet her boyfriend Blaze, the pup who inspired me to adopt her in the first place. And she visited my favorite spots in town, to include the Riverwalk and the Friendly Spot. And she even learned to kayak on the Comal River!
The Bonds are Back in town
We returned back to Denver and were welcomed by…my parents! The last time they visited, I had only just moved to Colorado. The house was a mess, life was a mess, and I was a useless tour guide.
This time was different. I showed them all my favorite spots, to include a hike up Saint Mary’s Glacier and a meal at Bigsby’s Folly!
We also hit a few of Mom’s Colorado bucket list items, like the Molly Brown House Museum and a trip up to Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park! Despite some pretty heavy smoke that hid most of the mountain ranges from us, it was a gorgeous drive that I can’t wait to do again!
And S’More Camping
It wouldn’t be a summer month in Colorado without a little camping! Rhubarb, who has now gone on 5 camping trips in her little life, deserves a badge.
We did a trip at a cute little spot near Buena Vista, setting up camp next to a frigid swimming hole that Rhubs was decidedly not a fan of. She much preferred snoozing under the sleeping bag.
A few weekends later we headed westbound for Silverthorne! While I didn’t create anything quite as tasty as our camping food series (hellooooo campfire mac & cheese), I did learn the delicious simplicity of fire toasted bagels, beans on the fire, and portable stove eggs in holes.
Summer Livin’
And as if there were any threat of boredom, that was quickly alleviated by all my best friends coming into today for a weekend of white water tubing in Golden and reggae music as Red Rocks!
In the Headquarters
So anyways, August was a whirlwind. But in all the cracks of free time I managed to squeeze in some work!
I did a series of virtual classes on how to make popsicles to a few Fortune 500 companies. To say it pushed me out of my comfort zone would be an understatement, but I had a blast putting it all together and making popsicles live with families all over the world!
And I started working on the recipes that will be coming out this fall, to include these buffalo chickpea collard wraps (🤤) and some fun apple recipes (Rhubs acted as shoot assistant, painstakingly polishing each apple with her tongue).
And that’s the gab for August! I hope your summer has been filled with popsicles and watermelon and happy times. See you in the fall!
