Assemble: To a large pot, add all ingredients except cream and parmesan.(16 oz spaghetti*, 3 cups marinara sauce, 3 cups water, ½ cup sun-dried tomatoes (roughly chopped), 4 cloves garlic (minced), ½ tsp each salt, oregano, crushed pepper flakes, smoked paprika, ground black pepper, 1 pint cherry tomatoes (halved), and 1 cup fresh basil (roughly chopped).)Gently stir. This can be difficult with long spaghetti strands, so just do your best to mix everything evenly; it will become easier to stir once the pasta starts cooking.
Simmer: Cover and cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. Check it every 5 minutes, separating the spaghetti strands at first and then stirring fully once they soften.
Serve: Once spaghetti is al dente (almost done, with just a little bite in the middle), stir in ½ cup heavy cream and ½ cup grated Parmesan. Serve warm!
Notes
*If using spaghetti, make sure your pan is big enough to fit the uncooked strands lying down. If it's not big enough, feel free to use a different type of pasta!Too liquidy once the pasta is cooked? Let it gently simmer with the lid off to allow extra moisture to evaporate. Too dry before the pasta is done cooking? Add a splash of hot water and stir. This one is best served fresh. The pasta keeps soaking up the sauce as it sits, so leftovers lose that dreamy, creamy consistency. If you do have leftovers, keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. Add a splash of water and reheat slowly over low heat on the stove, stirring until the sauce loosens up again.
