Breaking down the basics of how to make milk kefir, a probiotic-rich fermented drink!
Step 1
Assemble: Add kefir grains and milk to a large glass jug. Cover with a few layers of paper towels. Secure with a rubber band.
Step 2
Ferment: Set in a warm, dark spot for 24 hours. You’ll know your kefir is done when it has slightly thickened and smells fermented.
Step 3
Store fresh kefir: Strain out kefir grains. Transfer finished kefir to a jar. Store in the fridge for around 2 weeks.
