Remember my dad, the body builder? Well the amount that I love food is about the amount that he loves health/fitness/…and excel spreadsheets. He sent me this handy fruit and veggie nutrition calculator the other day, which he made from scratch, and I couldn’t not share it with you.
How does it work? Just plug in either the weight (in ounces or grams) of the fruit or vegetable you’re eating. The calculator will tell you the number of calories, grams of protein, grams of fiber, and percentage of your daily needs for iron, calcium, potassium, vitamin A, and vitamin C that are in your food. Eating more than one fruit or veggie? The calculator will total it all up for you, so simple!
The calculator also has a nifty feature to help you identify which vegetables are the best sources of proteins (important for vegetarians!) A score of 100 indicates a food with all 9 of the essential amino acids (a complete protein), while lower scores may only have a few.
While this isn’t the calculator you’ll want to use for complex meals, for simple snacks, for smoothies, and for familiarizing yourself with nutrition info for common foods, this calculator is perfect. It’s free to download, just click the text below.
